2014 --- Psalm 8 --- Is creation itself all the evidence one needs
to believe in a Creator?
- V3, when was the last time you intentionally took the time to take a
look at creation to consider the greatness (and evidence) of God?
- V4, is it true to say that the more we realise how awesome God must be,
the more amazing it is that He should give you and me a second thought?
If, then, we consider God’s greatness, and our weakness, and that nevertheless He allowed Himself to be cruelly killed for us…what can that teach us about our value and His love for us?
Is there a necessary correspondence between the need to be humble and the need to recognise that we are loved?

- Many have considered this Psalm to be a prophecy regarding the
crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Which verses in particular would appear to be
prophetic?
- If this is, indeed, a prophetic Psalm, what impact would it have had on
the Jewish leaders and scribes around the cross when Jesus quoted the first
verse?
- V1, Jesus described Himself as ‘the good Shepherd’ in John 10:11. When
compared to this verse, do you think this may have been an intentional revelation
of His divinity?
- What difference does it make if we read this chapter from a
material/physical perspective, compared to a spiritual perspective?
- How much of this chapter can you claim to be true for yourself?
- Having read the chapter, how would you summarise it in a sentence?
- V1 & 5, Why does God’s description as a Rock, and finding rest for
our soul, go hand-in-hand?
- V8, How easy/difficult is it to trust in God at all times?
- What do we need rescuing from?
- V9, why would we doubt our usefulness as we grow old? Is God limited in how
and when He can use us? How old was Moses when God used Him to lead the
Israelites?
