Latest on Ethan 11 April

Wednesday 11th April 2018
Sorry to post again!
Yesterday was not so good ðŸ˜ž
Ethan’s body is disliking the steroids and reacting. Yesterday his skin was boiling hot, bright pink and immensely puffy. Lots of antihistamine was given but with very little impact. He was uncomfortable all day and very anxious.
Lydia was confused by his appearance and couldn’t work out why he was wearing so much blusher!!
Thank you for your support and prayers but I ask again that you continue to pray for him today as he has more IV steroids. Also that you will pray for me as I care for him. It’s continually upsetting to see him so uncomfortable but there is no time for tears or sadness, I just have to keep on top of the medicine routine and keep him entertained and as comfortable as possible.
Your support is wonderfully encouraging, thank you.
Esther xx

Despite Ethan’s favourite doctor not being around yesterday for the cannula fitting, Ethan coped remarkably well.
His first thoughts were to get praying, followed by the decision to relax as much as possible and finally eat a chocolate bar which he thought would help his veins to appear!
Anyway, it worked and Ethan has now got another doctor at our local hospital that successfully fitted Ethan’s cannula with no problems at all ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘.
We’re off to Hospital again now, so Harry Potter, colouring, chatting and watching episodes of Dragons will be on the agenda today ðŸĪŠ
Thank you for your prayers and support xx

Sunday 8th April 2018
Hi all,
Hope you’ve had a good and special Easter time?
We’ve managed some time away with friends and family but it’s back to reality this coming week. Ethan has another week of IV steroids in our local hospital along with a visit to Bristol Children’s Hospital.
Please pray that all goes to plan this week; the cannula fitting goes well, the steroids don’t cause too many nasty side effects and that we all have the energy to face each day.
Thank you for your continued prayers.
Much love Esther xx

Pill Salvation Army
Church & Community Centre

Church Leaders: Lieutenants Nick & Shelley Ward

Welcome to Pill Salvation Army – your Salvation Army. Whether you’re here to worship, meet friends, share coffee or play and meet friends at our toddler group or children’s groups, we’re pleased to welcome you!

Questioning Jesus

As we come closer to the special time of Easter, we continue to explore some of the questions which people asked Jesus. Today we’re joining the Pharisees who ask Jesus, ‘By whose authority do you do these things?’ We might also ask ourselves who or what has authority in our lives?

Next week – Palm Sunday
Remember there’s no service here at The Salvation Army next Sunday, as all the churches join together on the village green in Portbury for a special Palm Sunday service. There will be a marquee for cover, activities for children, a donkey-led procession, and favourite Palm Sunday songs and readings. See over for details.

News & information

Open the Book
The Churches in Pill are hoping to set up an ‘Open the Book’ team in Pill. Open the Book is an initiative run by Scripture Union through which a small team goes into a school to lead an assembly and present a Bible story using drama and interaction. Crockerne Primary School are keen for this to happen, so we are currently looking to gather a team. There will be a training day on either Monday 16th or Thursday 19th April from 9.30am-2.30pm (tbc).

Sponsor Jemimah
Jemimah Douglas recently took part in a Sponsored Swim – well done Jemimah! If you would like to support her, she would be happy to receive any small donations which will go to charities in Portishead.

Palm Sunday & Easter Week
On Sunday 25th March at 10.30am we will be joining with all the churches to celebrate Palm Sunday at
St Mary’s, Portbury for an outdoor all-age service, complete with donkey (weather permitting – alternatively we will gather in the church). If you’re able to, please bring a fold-upchair with you. Parking is available at St Mary’s, in the school car park, and on the rugby field if dry enough, in addition to on street parking.

On Good Friday morning we will meet together at The Salvation Army for a meditation at 10.00am, followed at 10.30am by a prayer journey around the churches and the village, helping us to reflect on Jesus’ journey to the cross. Everone will be invited to share in a short joint service on the village green (time tbc), followed by hot cross buns at Pill Methodist Church.

On Easter Sunday we will of course meet for worship together at The Salvation Army. Look out for more details of other Easter Week services  and activities.
